week 1; saturday post-trial; movie theater
[Healy's never been a party guy. He's only hanging out at the little movie theater gathering to keep an eye on things, make sure no one gets too off their rocker. Someone's gotta keep a level head around here after that trial.
About midway through the night, he heads outside for a breather—and spots Shinobu a little ways down the road.]
Hey. You did good back there.
[He sounds tired, but that's on par for him.]

[ She's also outside for a breather, and her version of a breather is taking a walk around the town. She gives him a wave and stops to have a chat. ]
So did you, and thanks for being so cooperative. I was starting to get a headache back there...some people really weren't interested in making things a little easier for us.

No sense in making any of this harder than it needs to be. Belligerence only makes you look more suspicious. We don't have time to chase down false leads.
[He'll walk with her, if she prefers to keep moving.]
The ones that put up a fight... Might've been denial. This oughtta wake them up.
[He hopes, anyway.]

[ Stares at Erika and Walter.....
But! She'll gesture towards him to follow her if he'd like to. ]
Taking a walk to clear my head. You can join if you want, and you can say whatever you want, if you've got a lot on your mind.

[And the walking around in the morning wasn't exactly a casual stroll...
As for her other offer, he hums noncommittally.]
It's not over yet, that's all. If what they said about growing those fruits is true, we're really in for it next week. We got one killer, sure, but another one went free. That'll be the real incentive.
no subject
[ So...if that's the case, neither went free, which she has mixed feelings about. ]
Still, I agree. Now that we understand the assignment a little more, I don't doubt that someone else is going to go for it. ... Maybe more than this week, if only one person can get voted out.

[Is it good? At face value, yeah. Everyone's accounted for. But his voice doesn't sound convinced. It's a tragedy no matter how you spin it. He's just trying to stay logical.]
I'm thinking more, too. Seems like it'd make sense for a group to work together to kill. The more murders, the better the chance of getting away with it—not to mention we have to untangle all the evidence. Two bodies was confusing enough.

died on his own but shinobu is pretty convinced otherwise, i am crying.
rip. ]
...Yeah. Two connected deaths, at that. For what it's worth, though, I have no interest in taking someone's life -- I'd rather try and learn more about the world to see if there's another way out.
[ However. ]
I know that's just talk though, and I'm not asking you to trust me. If you choose to, though, then know that's the path I'm trying to take.
no subject
Ah.
[Well, that's good to know. As to the question of trust... He's not so naive to think he truly knows anyone here after just a handful of conversations, and he's glad to hear her acknowledge that fact herself.
He remembers the story behind her mask, though. She's outrunning something—and not just in a literal sense. If she's really got a regret that big, odds are she's smart enough to take the pacifist approach in earnest.]
I'll risk it. None of us are getting anywhere on our own. Trust is part of that.
[The problem with their tactic, though: How do they even begin to look for Door Number 3? He stuffs his hands into his pockets.]
...Did Makima and Adela ever say anything about talking to the forest spirits or whatever directly? Appeasing them by growing these corpse fruits, that's just an inference, you think?
no subject
[ Though it almost didn't, in Sora's case...and even then, he just wanted to go home. Don't they all, though. ]
And I can't recall them ever saying they communicated with the spirits themselves. It sounds like an inference, but I'm sure they're omitting a lot from us. I just don't know what those things are.
no subject
[And thank god for that. They're gonna need all the sanity they can get.]
Hm... It's a long shot, but I'd prefer to get our information from the spirits themselves. Maybe one of our hosts would know where to do that.
no subject
[ Now, as for that last part? ]
You think they'd let us have access to them?
no subject
[That's a very good question, though. He tips his head from side to side.]
If they didn't, they'd be betraying their "benevolent jailors" act. They'd want us to break out of here without killing, don't you think? Wouldn't hurt to ask.
no subject
[ healy: taps forehead ]
Alright, then. I'll have a word with them and see what can be done. If you talk to them, let me know about that, too.
no subject
[He hasn't felt the need to interrogate them more than the others already have. Sounds like they're worth knowing, though.]
no subject
Still, maybe this question'll be more innocuous. Maybe that's enough to get an answer from them.
no subject
[And what else are they gonna do? They gotta try something.]
